Microsoft Releases Gesture Beta for WP, Answer By Raising Phone to Your Ear, Speaker By Placing on a Flat Surface & More

Microsoft have released a new beta for Windows phone devices called “gesture beta”. The new app allows you to control your phone based on how you and where you hold it, for example calls can be answered by raising the phone to your ear; muted by being placed face down on a flat surface, or speaker phone activated by placing it face up. You can also silence calls by flipping the phone over (display down).
•Answer a call by picking up your phone and putting it to you ear
•Mute your mic during a call by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing down
•Put the call on speaker by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing up
•Silence incoming call ringer by flipping phone display down

Our first release will enable you to control calls and silence your phone conveniently. You can:
– Answer a call by picking up your phone and putting it to you ear
– Mute your mic during a call by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing down
– Put the call on speaker by placing the phone on a flat surface with the display facing up
– Silence the phone by flipping it display down (if not in active call)

These are some pretty cool additions to bring to Windows Phone, and it certainly seems like there will be more gestures added later on, perhaps all remnants of Nokia/Microsoft’s cancelled 3D technology?Check out a video of the app in action below:
